Authorizing the Police Department to accept the 2015 COPS Hiring grant and amend the 2016 budget.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded the 2015 COPS Hiring Program from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services; and
WHEREAS, this grant was awarded to address a particular Department of Justice priority crime problem and focus area based on a community policing strategy to improve public safety response as detailed in the attached grant application; and
WHEREAS, the 2016 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for this grant; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $62,500 in excess of those estimated in the
2016 budget and recommends the changes as follows; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and the changes to the 2016 budget authorizing the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached agreement with the U.S Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
