Moving $79,607 of available CIB Contingency funds to the Parks and Recreation Department’s 2015 Capital Maintenance Program to repair a water leak in the Como Zoo polar bear pool in Como Regional Park.

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation discovered a substantial leak in the large polar bear pool at Como Zoo in February 2016, which required the pool be shut down; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation sought bids to repair the water leak in the pool; and
WHEREAS, to repair the pool, it was necessary to enclose the pool with scaffolding, planks, cable, and poly in order to install new PVC piping and jets during cold season conditions; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting use of $79,607 in available CIB contingency funds for reimbursement of the $79,607 necessary to repair the polar bear pool leak; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, that $79,607 in CIB contingency funds be made available for appropriation in the Department of Parks and Recreation 2015 Capital Maintenance Budget, and as heretofore adopted by the Council, the aforementioned budgets are hereby further amended.

The CIB Committee did not meet quorum at the July, 2016 meeting. A non-binding vote was taking of members present and the resolution was recommended for approval.
