Title

Amending the financing and spending plans in the Police Department in the amount of $20,000, and accepting the Grant Agreement Amendment from the State of Minnesota for the 2014 State Homeland Security Program grant.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) was granted the 2014 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant from the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety (RES 15-215, RES 16-122); and

 

WHEREAS, this grant provides funding for upgrades to existing equipment and additional equipment which will improve safety and effectiveness while accomplishing purposes as specified and also provides funding for training in conjunction with other state teams training for land based and maritime based operations to meet federal standards; and

 

WHEREAS, the State has offered a Grant Agreement Amendment to extend the term of the grant through August 31, 2016 and s $20,000 award increase, from $63,000 to $83,000; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2016 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for these funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $20,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2016 budget and recommends the changes as follows; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the extension of the grant and these changes to the 2016 budget.
