Authorizing the Police Department to accept the donation/granted funds from the Saint Paul Police Foundation for the Police Explorer Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to help the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) in many ways including insuring that public safety for our citizens remains the number one priority for our city; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation board of directors has approved the granting/donation of $26,505 to the St. Paul Police Explorer Program, and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Explorer Program is a non-funded organization that helps 20-24 inner city youth ages 14-21 across the City of Saint Paul. These youth are mentored by SPPD officers and explore the field of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept the donation; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose served is that the program allows for the youth and their families in our community to interact with law enforcement building positive relationships and learn about this career field; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extend its sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
