Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept funds from Twin Cities LISC for Nora Riemenschneider, Economic Development Program Coordinator, to attend a site visit to Chicanos Por La Causa in Phoenix, AZ from February 18-19, 2016.

Whereas, Twin Cities LISC is a nonprofit organization that helps communities create new opportunities and increase their economic power, and is a valuable partner on many projects with the City of St. Paul; and
Whereas, Twin Cities LISC organized a site visit to the community-based organization Chicanos Por La Causa with other Saint Paul-based organizations, including CLUES, Hmong American Partnership, and Merrick Community Services; and
Whereas, Nora Riemenschneider, Economic Development Program Coordinator, was invited to attend the site visit to Chicanos Por La Causa; and
Whereas, Twin Cities LISC offered to pay for all costs associated with attendance and participation in the site visit by Ms. Riemenschneider, with the value not exceeding $700; and
Whereas, this two-day site visit brought together community organizations and municipal partners together to learn about Chicanos Por La Causa, a large and successful community-based organization in Arizona that serves the community in a culturally competent and holistic manner,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that upon recommendation of the Mayor, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby accept the payment by Twin Cities LISC of all costs associated with the participation of Nora Riemenschneider in the learning site visit to Chicanos Por La Causa in Phoenix, AZ, on February 18-19, 2016, with thanks for Twin Cities LISC’s generous gift; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to take the appropriate actions necessary to facilitate the purpose of this resolution.
