Accepting U.S. EPA Browfields Area-Wide Planning and Brownfields Assessment Grant funds and amending the 2015 Budget. 

 

Body

WHEREAS, on September 24, 2014, the City applied to the U. S. EPA for a $200,000 Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Grant for the West Side Flats master plan area to assist with brownfields research for the project area, more refined planning work associated with the greenway identified in the master plan, and community outreach and education;

 

WHEREAS, on December 19, 2014, the City applied to the U.S. EPA. for a $200,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant to undertake environmental assessment on the West Side Flats (Fillmore Avenue site) specifically to characterize possible environmental conditions within the identified greenway area, develop clean up strategies, and undertake community outreach and education;

 

WHEREAS, on September 30, 2015, U.S. EPA awarded the City a $200,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant for the West Side Flats (Fillmore Avenue site);

 

WHEREAS, on November 10, 2015, U.S. EPA awarded the City a $200,000 Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Grant for the West Side Flats;

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does hereby certify that $400,000 in funds are available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2015 budget and recommends the changes to the 2015 budget identifed on Attachment A.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul accepts this grant and approves the changes identified on Attachment A to the 2015 budget.
