Accepting the gift of travel and lodging expenses from the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood for Jane Eastwood to attend the Promise Neighborhood Boot Camp, a national planning session for Promise Neighborhood organizations, hosted by Policy Link, and the Policy Link conference which follows it, both held in Los Angeles, October 26-30, 2015

WHEREAS, Jane Eastwood, as a member of the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood Partnership Council, and Councilmember Dai Thao have has been invited to attend the national Promise Neighborhood Boot Camp, hosted by Policy Link and also to attend the Policy Link conference which follows the Boot Camp session; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood was granted funds from The St. Paul and Bigelow foundations to take 10 staff and Neighborhood Partnership Council members to the Policy Link meetings; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the Boot Camp will help Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood staff and its Partnership Council members prepare to seek competitive funding from a national funders coalition for Promise Neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the Policy Link conference which follows will provide learning and information on many aspects of equity that are relevant to the City’s racial equity initiative; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the offer of reimbursement of travel, lodging and meal expenses up to $1,576 each for Jane Eastwood and Councilmember Dai Thao to attend the boot camp and conference, and thanks the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood for its gift.
