Authorizing an increase in the Parks and Recreation Grant Fund Budget in the amount of $118,000, to reflect the multi-year Conservation Partners Legacy Grant, received from the State of Minnesota, for the Hidden Falls Floodplain Forest Enhancement.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation was previously granted permission to apply for (Res 14-1728), and has now been awarded a Conservation Partners Legacy Grant in the amount of $118,000; and
WHEREAS, the term of this grant began on July 1, 2015 and ends June 30, 2018, with the Department of Parks and Recreation applying for reimbursement of costs on a quarterly basis; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of Parks and Recreation to use this funding to enhance 59 acres of floodplain forest at Hidden Falls Regional Park through invasive woody species removal and reforestation efforts; and
WHEREAS, the project will increase connectedness of high-quality forests, reduce sedimentation of impaired waterbodies, and improve habitat for wildlife; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $118,000 in excess of those estimated in the current Grant Budget; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes acceptance of the grant funds and approves these amendments for the Life-to-date Grant Budget.
