Proclaiming April 25, 2015 as Barbara Barnes Day in the City of Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, on April 25, 1935, Barbara Barnes (nee Drew) was born to her parents George and Madlyn Drew, the second of five children; and
WHEREAS, Barbara was born and raised in the City of Saint Paul living most of her life in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Barbara attend Groveland Elementary School, graduated from Central High School in 1953 and attended the University of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, back in the 1950's Todd and Tim entered Barbara's life and she raised them to be very fine and accomplished men; and
WHEREAS, Barbara has volunteered countless hours at numerous outreach programs and spends many hours at her church being a 'jack of all trades and Greeter Extraordinaire", with community service running deep in her family including her brother John Drew being a past Saint Paul City Councilmember; and
WHEREAS, for more than twenty years Barbara has been and continues to be an usher for the Minnesota Twins Baseball Organization where she is held in the highest regard by the Twins Club employees as well as the players and their families who have been the recipients of her stellar work ethic and warm hospitality.  Recognizing Barbara's wonderful attributes, in 2008 the Twins bestowed upon Barbara 'Employee of the Year", and she was again at her post for the 2015 season game opener; and
WHEREAS, for the past 15 years Barbara has lived at 740 River Drive Apartments, going out of her way to make every resident feel welcome and acting as hostess for countless social events, earning her the title of "The Mayor of 740"; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that Saturday, April 25, 2015 be proclaimed as BARBARA BARNES DAY in the great City of Saint Paul.
