Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a grant in the amount of $6,000 from the Bush Foundation and Youthprise to support the Canvas teen arts program at Hancock Recreation Center.
Body
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, through the Canvas teen arts program offers many events, classes and ongoing activities for teens throughout Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Bush Foundation and Youthprise wish to award $6,000 to the Canvas teen arts center to support teen programming; and
WHEREAS, the Hancock Recreation Center Canvas teen arts program will focus on Saint Paul youth by providing leadership opportunities, mentoring, and activities, purchasing needed supplies and equipment, paying staff to assist in delivering the program and assisting in marketing the activities;
WHEREAS, the grant will benefit teen participants and further the mission of the Department of Parks and Recreation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept this grant in the amount of $6,000 to support teen programming at Hancock Recreation Center.
