Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept funds from Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) for Daniel K. Bayers, Principal Project Manager, to attend a workshop hosted by LISC on March 18-20, 2015, in Berkeley, California.

WHEREAS, Daniel K. Bayers, Principal Project Manager in the Department of Planning and Economic Development, has been invited to attend a LISC workshop that will discuss how to create better business districts, titled Building a Better Business District; and
WHEREAS, LISC will pay for all costs associated with attendance and participation in the meeting by Mr. Bayers, with an estimated value not to exceed $1,500; and
WHEREAS, this three-day event will discuss how to attract businesses to St. Paul's commercial corridors and the analysis of commercial real estate developments; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose is to discuss and share with this workshop the best practices around creating Saint Paul's commercial corridors competitiveness and economic development strategies in context with our neighborhoods,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that upon recommendation of the Mayor, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve the acceptance of the payment of all costs associated with the participation of Daniel K. Bayers in the LISC workshop titled Building a Better Business District on March 18-20, 2015; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to take the appropriate actions necessary to facilitate Mr. Bayers' participation in the meeting.
