Accepting the gift of travel expenses from the Visit Saint Paul Foundation for eight city employees to travel to Germany, Denmark and Sweden for the purposes of the Ford Study Tour.

WHEREAS, the redevelopment of the Ford Motor Site, presents an unparalleled opportunity in and for the benefit of the City of Saint Paul, and
WHEREAS, similar developments have successfully occurred in Germany, Denmark, and Sweden; and
WHEREAS, the opportunity for city employees, officials, and partners to view and study those developments serves the public purpose of successfully redeveloping the Ford Motor Site; and
WHEREAS, the Visit Saint Paul Foundation has offered to pay for the travel expenses, estimated at approximately $39,000, for eight city employees, including Mayor Christopher Coleman, Council Member Chris Tolbert, Joe Spencer, Jonathan Sage-Martinson, Merritt Clapp-Smith, John Maczko, Kathleen Anglo, and Anne Hunt, to go to Germany, Denmark, and Sweden to study these developments and other business.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Council hereby accepts the gift of travel expense in the approximate amount of $39,000 from the Visit Saint Paul Foundation and
FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council finds that the expenditure of this gift for the Ford Study Tour serves the public purpose of successfully redeveloping the Ford Motor Site; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council appropriates this gift to the travel expenses of eight city employees, including Mayor Christopher Coleman, Council Member Chris Tolbert, Joe Spencer, Jonathan Sage-Martinson, Merritt Clapp-Smith, John Maczko, Kathleen Anglo, and Anne Hunt to travel to Germany, Denmark and Sweden for the purposes of the Ford Study Tour as stated herein, and
FINALLY RESOLVED, the Council thanks the Visit Saint Paul Foundation, and its donors: The Katherine B. Andersen Fund of The Saint Paul Foundation, F. R. Bigelow Foundation, District Energy St. Paul, Ever-Green Energy, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, The Saint Paul Foundation, and Saint Paul Port Authority, for its generous gift.
