WHEREAS, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is hosting the HSUS' Animal Expo, March 30-April 2, 2015 in New Orleans, LA; and
WHEREAS, the conference is designed to bring over 2,000 animal care experts, professionals and interested persons from around the globe to learn new skills and strategies to find and keep pets in homes, humanely manage cat populations, and address other animal welfare issues; and
WHEREAS, HSUS' Pets for Life Program has offered to pay up to $1,500 for Molly Lunaris, Supervisor of Saint Paul Animal Control, for travel, hotel, and registration expenses to attend the conference; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the event will facilitate Saint Paul Animal Control's efforts at keeping abreast of current, nationwide, best-practices in animal care, animal placement, investigations, and field services, which are critical, as Saint Paul continues to improve services provided to residents who own pets or who are impacted by animals in their communities. RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the donation from HSUS to cover the costs of travel, hotel, and registration costs for Molly Lunaris to attend the Animal Expo from March 30-April 2, 2015 in New Orleans, LA, and thanks HSUS for its generous gift.
