Accepting the donation of travel expenses from Visit Saint Paul with support from Travelers Foundation for Ross Currior and Joe Spencer to have a site visit of the Fox Theater in Oakland and the Riviera Theater in Chicago for the purpose of informing the design of the Palace Theater.
Body
WHEREAS, both the Fox Oakland and the Riviera are nationally recognized as successful redevelopment of historic theaters into thriving concert venues; and
WHEREAS, City Staff member Joe Spencer from the Mayor's office and Ross Currior in Planning and Economic Development are leading the efforts to design the redevelopment of the Palace Theater; and
WHEREAS, the Fox, Riviera and the Palace are similar in age, size, and intended reuse; and
WHEREAS, there is a clear public purpose in maximizing the quality of design in this redevelopment effort; and
WHEREAS, Visit Saint Paul, with support from the Travelers Foundation, has offered to cover all expenses for City staff to make these site visits (estimated value of not more that $4,000)
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby accepts the gift of travel expenses, Ross Currior and Joe Spencer to attend these site visits to the Fox Oakland and the Riviera and extends its sincere thanks to Visit Saint Paul and the Travelers Foundation for their generosity.
