Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Family Partnership for the Khandra Project.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been granted funds from The Family Partnership to participate in the Khandra Project; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this project is to work to create an organized model of community partnership to help the Somali community prevent further trafficking of its girls and young women; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD will develop community meetings, provide information and education on human trafficking, develop relationships with the Somali community, create new ways of collaborating on anti-trafficking measures and create strategies to nurture the recovery of trafficking and exploited girls; and
WHEREAS, the 2014 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $5,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2014 budget; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following addition be made to the 2014 budget; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the grant and approves these changes to the 2014 budget.
