Title
Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a five-year license agreement with Magnolia Blossom Charter Cruises to operate out of Watergate Marina.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the City owns the Watergate Marina located at 2500 Crosby Farm Road and adjacent to Crosby Farm Regional Park; and
 
WHEREAS, Magnolia Blossom Charter Cruises, owned by Dan Dickinson, has located and operated a cruise boat (the Magnolia Blossom) at Watergate Marina for the 2006 through 2012 seasons, wishes to continue operations at Watergate Marina January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2017; and
      
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Administrative Code 86.03 (2)(b) requires that "any lease of park lands and/or recreation facilities which will be for a period of more than one (1) year shall require approval by the council following a public hearing before the park commission"; and
 
WHEREAS, the Park Commission recommended that the license be approved and the City Council finds that the license operation at Watergate Marina is an acceptable use of the space and enhances the public's access to the river-front and the related enjoyment of the park; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the appropriate city employees to enter into the attached five-year license agreement with Magnolia Blossom Charter Cruises to operate out of Watergate Marina for the sum of $29,000.00.
