Title
Accepting gifts of air transportation, food, and hotel costs from the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) and the Kresge Foundation for City staff to attend the Climate Leadership Academy on Adaption and Resilience, October 3 to 5, 2012.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Institute for Sustainable Communities has selected the City of Saint Paul as one of twelve cities to attend the Climate Leadership Academy on Adaption and Resilience in Portland, Oregon from October 3 -5, 2012; and
 
WHEREAS, the Institute for Sustainable Communities has invited a team of City staff including Sustainability Director Anne Hunt, Director of Public Works Rich Lallier, and Director of Emergency Management Rick Larkin to a unique training and peer-learning opportunity, focused on improving, expanding and accelerating cities' efforts to better assess, prioritize and manage the local risks of climate change; and
WHEREAS, the Institute for Sustainable Communities and the Kresge Foundation will pay for airfare, hotel and food costs, in an amount not to exceed $3,000; and
WHEREAS,  the City Council finds that attendance by the City staff at the Climate Leadership Academy and access to the training and peer-learning will be a benefit to the City; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts the gift of conference lodging, food and air travel and appropriates it to the intended use for the Sustainability Director, Director of Public Works and Director of Emergency Management to attend the conference, and thanks the Institute for Sustainable Communities and the Kresge Foundation for their generous gift.
