Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation of assorted dog related items with an estimated value of up to $2,500 from Genesis Industries, Inc for use during "Bark and Rec Day."
Body
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation is involved in a variety of community events in an effort to increase participation in, and appreciation for services provided by the Department; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul currently has 7,211 licensed dogs and many residents have expressed a desire for more park related opportunities for off-leash recreation; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation is hosting "Bark and Rec Day" on September 16, 2012 at Harriet Island Regional Park, as a way to showcase the benefits of off-leash recreation and to respond to these recreation requests from our residents; and
WHEREAS, Genesis Industries Inc. wishes to donate an assortment of dog related items with an estimated value of up to $2,500.00 for use during "Bark and Rec Day"; and
WHEREAS, the items will be used as prizes and event advertising for the "Bark and Rec Day" event; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the donation of dogs related items, appropriates them for use by the Depatment of Parks and Recreation as part of Bark and Rec, and thanks Genesis Industries Inc. for its generous donation.
