Title
Granting the Public Works Department the authority to use the Solid Waste and Recycling Fund to pay District Councils for their annual clean up events and other initiatives within the Neighborhood Clean Up program.
 
Body
WHEREAS; The Neighborhood Clean Up program, established over twenty years ago, has supported the District Councils in their effort to address solid waste issues, including litter and illegal dumping within their districts and;
 
WHEREAS; the Neighborhood Clean Up program has also assisted the City of Saint Paul in increasing abatement of materials from the landfills by offering reuse and recycling opportunities for a wide range of large and problem materials and;
 
WHEREAS; these funds have been budgeted and allocated to each District Council based on an established formula in the total amount of $165,253 annually;
 
WHEREAS; in 2011 money is budgeted within the Solid Waste and Recycling Fund, now
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Public Works Department be granted the authority to use the Solid Waste and Recycling fund to pay the District Councils for their annual clean up events and other initiatives within the Neighborhood Clean up program.
