Authorizing the Fire Department to pay for all travel expenses for two Minnesota State Patrol employees to attend safety, operational, and short hauling training in Prescott, AZ, April 16-20, 2023.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Fire Department received $317,000 from the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education to purchase equipment and provide training for the Minnesota Aviation Rescue Team (MART) and the council resolution PH 22-358 was approved on December 7, 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, the MART money will be used to pay these travel expenses; and

 

WHEREAS, the safety, operational and short haul training will be held in Prescott, AZ, April 16, 20-2023, and two Saint Paul Fire Department employees will be attending along with two Minnesota State Patrol employees, with the estimated travel expenses not be exceed $4,200; and

 

WHEREAS, the two Minnesota State Patrol employees are members of the MART tram and there is training money available to be used for the expenses of attending this training; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that supporting and strengthening the working relationship between the Saint Paul Fire Department MART team members and the Minnesota State Patrol while attending this training to learn about the latest in helicopter rescue operations is a valid public purpose; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the travel expenses for the Minnesota State Patrol employees to attend this training be paid from the money available through the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education funding.
