Authorizing the Fire Department to pay for all travel expenses for four Minnesota State Patrol employees to attend the 2023 Helicopter Rescue Summit & Heli Expo in Atlanta, GA on March 5-9, 2023.
Body
WHEREAS, the Fire Department received $317,000 from the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education to purchase equipment and provide training for the Minnesota Aviation Rescue Team (MART) and the council resolution PH-22-358 was approved on December 7, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the MART money will be used to pay for these expenses; and
WHEREAS, the 2023 Helicopter Rescue Summit & Heli Expo will be held in Atlanta, GA March 5-9, and six Saint Paul Fire Department employees will be attending along with the four Minnesota State Patrol employees, with the estimated travel expenses not to exceed $8,000; and
WHEREAS, the four Minnesota State Patrol employees are members of the team, and the training money is available to be used for the expenses of attending the Expo; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that supporting and strengthening the working relationship between and the Saint Paul Fire Department MART team members and the Minnesota State Patrol while attending this conference to learn about the latest in helicopter rescue operations is a valid public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the travel expenses for the Minnesota State Patrol employees to attend this training be paid from the money available through the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education funding.
