Title

Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2022 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $2,297,500 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide paramedic training and purchase computers for EMS, personal protective gear and SCBAs for firefighters, and replace and update equipment.

Body

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to apply for the 2022 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to provide paramedic training for 18 firefighters, purchase a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) fill station, personal protective gear and SCBAs for firefighters and purchase 20 new computers for EMS; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant amount would be $2,297,500 of which the federal government would provide $2,088,636.36 to support the grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant requires a 10% match of $208,863.64 which would be paid from future budget allocation and the fire department's budget over the two years of the grant period of performance, now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2022 Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
