TITLE
Amending the 2022 special fund budget and adding an activity for an amended Making A Difference grant from the State of Minnesota, Department of Health in the amount of $90,000.
BODY
WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul, Police Department was previously awarded a Making A Difference grant from the State of Minnesota, Department of Health; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health has amended the award to include an additional year - to August 31, 2023 - and an additional $90,000; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funds for the costs of the Community Outreach and Stabilization Team (COAST), which pairs SPPD Officers with social workers to respond to individuals experiencing mental health and chemical dependency issues; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $90,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2022 budget and recommends the following changes; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the council accepts this amended award, approves these changes to the 2022 budget, and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to implement the amended award with the State of Minnesota, Department of Health.
