Approving the use of grant funds through the Neighborhood STAR Year-Round Program for the G.W. Carver Cultural Center for Innovation.
Body
WHEREAS, on August 20, 2021, the Neighborhood STAR Board reviewed a $15,000 Neighborhood STAR Year-Round Program grant request from the G. W. Carver Cultural Center for Innovation; and
WHEREAS, on September 8, 2021, a $15,000 Year-Round STAR grant was approved to match the $15,000 of private funds pledged to this project via Resolution 21-1303; and
WHEREAS, now, due to this proposal being of substantial community significance, a waiver to Neighborhood STAR Guidelines requiring a $1 for $1 match of non-city resources is being recommended; and
WHEREAS, a waiver to the Neighborhood STAR guideline requiring a $75 application fee and 1% origination fee is also being recommended; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Mayor and the Saint Paul City Council to continue their support of financing these activities with up to $15,000 in grant financing through the Ward 7 Neighborhood STAR Year-Round Program; now be it
RESOLVED, upon the recommendation of the Mayor, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby authorizes and directs the appropriate City officials to execute the necessary grant documents to implement this Resolution, subject to approval by the City Attorney; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, staff of the Department of Planning and Economic Development are further authorized and directed to proceed with all other actions necessary to implement this Resolution.
