Authorizing the Saint Paul City Council to apply for and accept grant funds in the amount of $17,450 from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund for explanatory videos to be created by YouthLens360.
Body
WHEREAS, the City Council of Saint Paul serves residents in the City of Saint Paul and is therefore responsible for ensuring city legislative processes are accessible and understandable to residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Saint Paul aims to make Saint Paul a city where residents feel empowered to act and engage on their own behalf; and
WHEREAS, this goal specifically requires that residents know how to navigate City Hall, find Council Chambers, understand meeting agendas, and know how to participate; and
WHEREAS, existing videos on the City Council website are out-of-date and not designed to capture a broad audience; and
WHEREAS, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation makes grant awards to community initiatives that enhance opportunity and foster civic engagement, and;
WHEREAS, the City Council of Saint Paul requests permission to apply to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to cover costs associated with the production of up-to-date, appealing and informative videos; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul is authorized to apply for funds in the amount of $17,450 from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and, if successful, enter into an agreement with said foundation to accept funds on behalf of the city.
