Authorizing the Saint Paul Public Library Agency to Execute an Agreement with the MN Department of Natural Resources for State Park Passes.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library Agency (Library) and the MN Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have agreed to distribute MN State Park passes to library patrons in accordance with DNR policies and procedures removing the cost barrier of enjoying the State Parks for some patrons; and
WHEREAS, the Library piloted this program in 2021 with positive feedback from patrons and staff; and
WHEREAS, the DNR will provide permission for the Library to use fifteen (15) seven-day state park passes to be checked out by library patrons over a period of three years; and
WHEREAS, the value of the passes over a three-year period is $1,575, no physical exchange of passes or monies will occur between the DNR and Library, and the State will purchase these passes through internal funding mechanisms set aside for this program; and
WHEREAS, the passes will be made available at the following Library locations: Arlington Hills Library (3 passes), Rice Street Library (3 passes), Rondo Community Library (4 passes), Sun Ray Library (3 passes) and Riverview Library (2 passes); and
WHEREAS, the State requires the use of their standard grant agreement even though no funds will be exchanged; Now, therefore be it
RESOLVED that the Library Board hereby authorizes the Saint Paul Public Library Agency to enter into this agreement with the DNR.
