Authorizing the City to request funds from the FY 2024 Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Metro Local Partnership Program and making a commitment for the local share of funding if grants are awarded.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul wishes to complete safety improvements on Trunk Highway 51 (Snelling Avenue) at the intersection with Grand Avenue, including construction of pedestrian crossing improvements, geometric revisions, ADA pedestrian ramp sidewalk improvements, and traffic signal replacement; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul wishes to install fiber-optic cable between traffic signals on United States Highway 61 at Burns Avenue and Warner Road, and the City's Advanced Traffic Management System; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is requesting financial participation in the aforementioned projects from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) through the Local Partnership Program FY 2024;

WHEREAS, the aforementioned projects will be of mutual benefit to MnDOT and the City of Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul must commit to providing the local share of the costs if the aforementioned projects are selected as part of the Local Partnership Program FY 2024; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota, that the City of Saint Paul is hereby requesting funding from MnDOT through its Local Partnership Program to complete improvements on Trunk Highway 51 (Snelling Avenue) at the intersection with Grand Avenue and United States Highway 61 at Burns Avenue and Warner Road; and be it further

RESOLVED, the Council hereby commits to provide the local share if awarded a grant for each project under the condition that the project is selected for funding by MnDOT through the Local Partnership Program FY 2024.
