Approving the temporary installation of artwork in the public right-of-way on the Jackson Street skyway windows between the Jackson Street Ramp and the 180 East 5th Street building.
Body
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Museum of American Art “Applicant” wishes to utilize the Jackson skyway windows between the Jackson Street Ramp and the 180 East 5th Street building (bridge #31) to install the titled Off the Deep End artwork “Project”; and,
WHEREAS, RES 19-1622 adopted by City Council on September 18, 2019, provides the permitting policy and process for the review and approval of public art proposed in the right of way, and sets forth general conditions for artwork installation; and,
WHEREAS, applicant has submitted complete and proper applications for the project which meet all conditions laid out in RES 19-1622; and,
WHEREAS, as outlined in the approval process of RES 19-1622, Public Works has reviewed the Minnesota Museum of American Art’s application; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works is recommending approval of the application; and,
WHEREAS, the project can remain in place until March 15, 2023 with written permission of the adjacent property owners and verified insurance coverage through that date;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Saint Paul grants approval to Public Works to authorize the installation of the public art project in the right of way.
