Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for up to $20,000 from Twin Cities Public Television SciGirls East Side STEM Grant, for up to $2,000 per Recreation Center (El Rio, Palace, Arlington Hills, Dayton’s Bluff, Wilder, North Dale, Langford Park, Martin Luther King Center, Edgcumbe, Linwood) to implement the STEM Programming with Kids Grant.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul performs significant services for residents of the Metropolitan area and all Minnesota residents through its ownership and operation of its parks, trails, and amenities; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for $20,000 in grant funds from the Twin Cities Public Television “SciGirls East Side STEM Programing with Kids Grant” to support Saint Paul’s recreation centers and two summer STEM Camps and activities at the recreation centers noted above; and

 

WHEREAS, grant funds would allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide quality STEM programing to Saint Paul youth; and

 

WHEREAS, there is no amount match required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for grant funds from Twin Cities Public Television SciGirls East Side STEM Programming with Kids Grant.
