Authorizing the Police Department (SPPD) to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to become a member of Minnesota Financial Crimes Task Force (MNFCTF).

 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) would like to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to become a member of Minnesota Financial Crimes Task Force (MNFCTF); and

 

 WHEREAS, the MNFCTF has a three-pronged approach consisting of Prevention, Education, and Enforcement to combat financial crimes; and

 

 WHEREAS, the SPPD and the BCA will work together to investigate and prosecute identity theft and related financial crimes; and

 

 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves entering into and authorizes Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the attached Joint Powers Agreement.
