Recognizing Beverly Farraher’s award from the National APWA as a Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year.

Body

WHEREAS, Beverly Farraher began her career at MnDOT in 1988 and held positions, including District Traffic Engineer, District Maintenance Engineer, State Bridge Construction and Maintenance Engineer, and Acting State Bridge Engineer/Bridge Office Director; and

WHEREAS, Beverly joined the City of Saint Paul in 2016 as the Public Works Operations Manager, overseeing an annual budget of $120 million and more than 270 employees, including the operation and maintenance of 1,874 miles of streets, 806 miles of sanitary sewer, 450 miles of storm sewer, 107 bridges, 390 signals, 32,000+ streetlights, 60,000+ signs, and 1,980 metered parking spaces; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her regular work as the Public Works Operations Manager, Beverly has excelled in leading Emergency Management Operations, including the City’s response to natural disasters such as retaining wall failures and flooding, as well as the civil unrest and the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, for more than 15 years Beverly has been an active member of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA), serving on the board and within several committee leadership roles, including the National Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and the Minnesota Chapter Conference Committee; and

WHEREAS, Beverly champions an equity and inclusion focus and approach with employees to ensure that the City’s public infrastructure works for all; and

WHEREAS, Beverly regularly volunteers in the community and goes above and beyond to help the City of Saint Paul serve the greater community by organizing regular blood drives and launching and managing the free Community Cupboard located at the Dale Street campus; and
