Authorizing the Police Department to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) for three one-day training sessions.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) would like to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) for three one-day training sessions; and

 

WHEREAS, this agreement states the Governmental Unit will provide one employee to conduct three one-day training sessions to BCA agents and investigative staff, sworn law enforcement officers, and Fire/EMS responders; and

 

WHEREAS, the effective date February 15, 2022 and expire December 31, 2022, the training sessions, titled “Introduction to Explosives” will be held at BCA Headquarters, Rochester Police Department, and Duluth, location to be determined; and

 

WHEREAS, the three one-day sessions are being provided by the Governmental Unit to the BCA at no cost; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves entering into and authorizes Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the attached Joint Powers Agreement.
