Authorizing the Department of Public Works to apply for and accept RAISE Grant funding for the Jackson Street Reconstruction and Pedestrian Improvement Project.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Transportation is currently accepting applications from local agencies for construction of transportation projects through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Program; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works proposes to reconstruct Jackson Street from University to Pennsylvania including pedestrian improvements, sidewalks and traffic calming in adjacent neighborhoods; and

 

WHEREAS, this project meets the requirements of the RAISE transportation grant thereby allowing the project to receive RAISE funding; and

 

WHEREAS, there is a required twenty percent local funding match for projects that are awarded RAISE funding; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City agrees to comply with all applicable laws and regulations as stated in the notice of funding and a future grant agreement; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the City has the necessary capabilities to adequately develop and manage this transportation project; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes staff to apply for and accept funding from the RAISE transportation grant program for the Jackson Street Reconstruction and Pedestrian Improvement Project, and, be it finally

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the commitment of local funds for the local match if the project is awarded RAISE Program funding.
