Authorizing Visit Saint Paul to coordinate planning of Mayor Carter’s inauguration.
Body
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter’s inauguration event (“Event”) will take place on January 3, 2022; and
WHEREAS, although, due to the pandemic, attendance at the Event will be limited, it will be live-streamed for all residents or anyone interested to observe the Event; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter has designated the RiverCentre Convention and Visitors Authority d/b/a/ Visit Saint Paul to solicit donations to pay for the Event pursuant to Section 41.30(f) of the Saint Paul Administrative Code; and
WHEREAS, as the designee to raise funds for the Event, it is desired that Visit Saint Paul oversee planning of the Event which includes entering into contracts for the Event and paying any costs related to the Event with the funds raised; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the Event will be an opportunity to come together as a City and for all to observe from any location; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes Visit Saint Paul to plan the Event which includes entering into contracts for the Event and paying all expenses from funds raised for the Events; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes the appropriate City officials to enter into and execute any contracts necessary to carry out this Resolution; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that donations for the Events are hereby accepted as gifts to the City to be used for the purpose of hosting the Inauguration Event.
