Authorizing the Fire Department to accept the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $1,127,272.73 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to purchase 248 radios.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to accept the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to purchase 248 radios for the department; and
WHEREAS, the total grant amount provided by the Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) would be $1,240,000 of which the federal government would provide $1,127,272.73 for the training; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a 10% match of $112,727.27 which will be paid from the City's budget; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department was given permission to apply for this grant on RES 21-170 which was approved on February 24, 2021, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant and authorizes the proper city officials to sign such documents needed to accept the money.
