Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for and if awarded accept funds from the Medica Foundation for Awakenings, the City’s Youth Violence Intervention Program in an amount of up to $22,000 for program year 2022. (To be withdrawn)

WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is prepared to accept grant funds from the Medica Foundation for Awakenings, the City’s Youth Violence Intervention Program; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide additional programming support for the Awakenings Mental Health Retreat for Youth, ages 6-13; and
WHEREAS, the mission of Awakenings is to intervene in the cycle of trauma in the lives of Saint Paul youth and connect them with experienced adults and resources to improve their mental health status and prepare them to thrive and prosper; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Awakenings program supports the Mayor’s Community First Public Safety Initiative and has a public purpose; Now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for and if awarded accept grant funds from the Medica Foundation for Awakenings, the City’s Youth Violence Intervention Program in an amount of up to $22,000 for program year 2022.
