Amending the financing and spending plans in the Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $63,284 to accept grant funds from a competitive grant process through the Minnesota Legacy Amendment, Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, a section within the department of Parks and Recreation has received a grant for programmatic development at Como Zoo; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds of $63,284 are a competitive grant through the Minnesota Legacy Amendment, Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund; and
WHEREAS, funding from the arts and cultural heritage fund may be spent only for arts, arts education, and arts access, and to preserve Minnesota's history and cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, Como Zoo will utilize the funds for two initiatives, update new interpretive signage in the Marine Mammal building and a temporary, seasonal garden on sustainable agriculture; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like to amend the Como Campus Special Fund Budget to reflect the amount of the grant award; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $63,284 in excess of those estimated in the 2011 Como Campus Special Fund; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon the recommendation of the Mayor , that $63,284 is available for appropriation in the 2011 Como Campus Special Fund, and said 2011 budget, as heretofore adopted by the Council, is here by further amended as follows: (SEE ATTACHMENT)
