Congratulating the players, coaches, assistants, parents, and boosters of the 2010-2011 12U and 14U basketball teams out of Duluth & Case Recreation Centers on being crowned champions of their respective Saint Paul leagues.

WHEREAS, the 2010-2011 12U and 14U basketball teams out of Duluth & Case Recreation Center were each crowned champions of their respective Saint Paul leagues; and,
WHEREAS, the teams were both led by Head Coach Warren Graves, with strong support from assistants, parents, and the Duluth & Case Booster Club; and,
WHEREAS, despite often being outsized on the court, D&C players relished their roles as underdogs - playing with poise, skill, and heart, defeating their opponents with teamwork and hustle; and,
WHEREAS, both teams went on to represent their Saint Paul neighborhood with excellence and distinction in the 2011 Boys Minnesota State 7A basketball tournament - defeating teams from the suburbs and outstate Minnesota; and,
WHEREAS, that by demonstrating sportsmanship, intelligence, and athleticism, the players and coaches of these teams have proven themselves to be excellent ambassadors of their families, their community, and their city; now,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby offer its warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaches, assistants, parents, and boosters of the Duluth & Case Recreation Center; and,
BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED, that in honor of these fine young men, the Saint Paul City Council does hereby proclaim Saturday, May 7, 2011 to be Duluth & Case Basketball Day.
