Authorizing the City on behalf of the Police Department (“SPPD”) to accept and amend the 2024 Special Fund Budget for a Grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS), Intensive Comprehensive Police Officer Education and Training (ICPOET) Program. WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) has awarded funding the SPPD funding from the Intensive Comprehensive Police Officer Education and Training (ICPOET) Program SPPD for $100,000; and
WHEREAS, the grant provides funds to employ two qualified individuals and cover their expenses as they complete requirements to become a law enforcement officer during the period of 6.1.2024 to 6.30.2025; and
WHEREAS, there is no matching fund requirement for this award; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department received approval to apply for this grant on RES 24-6; and
WHEREAS, the 2024 financing and spending plans need to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $100,000 in the Special Fund; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor that $100,000 is available for appropriation in the Police Department Special Fund, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis.
