Authorizing the Police Department to enter into an agreement with Ramsey County to provide funding from a 2022 U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG).

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded a 2022 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) of $265,991 for a grant term through September 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, this grant (accepted in RES PH 22-363) includes subgrants totaling $79,791 for three Ramsey County agencies (Ramsey County Community Corrections; Ramsey County Attorney’s Office; Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office); and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department requests authorization to enter into the attached Joint Powers Agreement with Ramsey County, for $79,791, to implement the requirements of the grant; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor, the City of Saint Paul is authorized to enter into, and Chief Axel Henry to implement, the attached agreement with Ramsey County.
