Authorizing the Fire Department to donate four radiological monitors to the Minnesota Department of Human Services Radiological Preparedness.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department has determined that the four radiological monitors listed in Attachment A are no longer needed to carry out department functions and are obsolete; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.02 (G) (6) g. 3 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code authorizes the City to donate surplus equipment to a bona fide organization upon a resolution that such donation is related to the function of government, serves a public purpose, and is for the benefit of the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department has determined the four radiological monitors to be obsolete and it would be expensive to update them to make them operational, in addition it would be expensive to safely dispose of the monitors; and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services Preparedness has a use for the four radiological monitors listed on Attachment A and they will see if them can make the monitors useable, if the monitors cannot be used, the State of Minnesota will be responsible to safely dispose of the monitors; and
WHEREAS, the estimated value of the radiological monitors is $20,000; and
WHEREAS, the City Council's transfer of the radiological monitors would provide the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services Radiological Preparedness with equipment that is no longer needed by the Saint Paul Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the donation of this equipment is related to the function of government and has a public purpose to donate the equipment to another governmental agency to be used for future training and state preparedness; Now, therefore, be it
