Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation in the amount of $25,000 from the Minnesota Vikings to support the Capital City Youth Tackle Football League, and to amend the Department Grant Fund budget by adding $25,000 to the financing and spending plan to reflect donated funds.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation develops and maintains sites for outdoor recreation of all types throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Vikings wish to donate $25,000 for use in 2021 to enhance our youth tackle football program within Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the donation, if accepted, will allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to cover the league participation fees and expenses, and to purchase tackle football equipment for youth in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, said funds will be used solely for the Capital City Football league offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said funds and increase its Grant Fund financing and spending plan to reflect the donation of $25,000 from the Minnesota Vikings; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $25,000 in excess of those estimated in the current Grant Fund budget; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes acceptance of the donated funds and approves these amendments for the Grant Fund budget; and, be it
FUTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul wishes to thank the Minnesota Vikings for their generous gift.
