Title

Authorizing an increase in the Department of Parks and Recreation Grant Fund Budget in the amount of $12,000 to reflect grant funding received from the National League of Cities (NLC), through its Institute for Youth, Education and Families, and Children & Nature Network (C&NN) Cities Connecting Children to Nature Catalytic Assistance grant, and authorizing the proper City Officials to enter into a grant agreement.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, by CF #16-104, the Department of Parks and Recreation applied for a National League of Cities grant; and

 

WHEREAS, Children & Nature Network (C&NN)) is an initiative of the National League of Cities’ Youth, Education, and Families and the Children and Nature Network; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation was awarded $12,000, that does not require a match, to further connect children to nature in Saint Paul; and

 

WHEREAS, acceptance of said funds will allow evaluation of the impact of CCCN Nature Smart, communication about CCCN Nature Smart across the city, and promote CCCN Nature Smart and nature learning within SPPR through community engagement and evaluation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said funding and amend the financing and spending budget for the project in the amount of $12,000; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $12,000 in excess of those estimated in the current Grant Budget; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul Council authorizes acceptance of the grant funds and approves these amendments for the Life-to-date Grant Budget; and, be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized to execute the grant agreement accepting the funds.
