Accepting of the gift of travel expenses and meal reimbursement from Augustana College for Saint Paul Department of Safety and Inspections employee Wes Saunders-Pearce to attend the CityLab conference on October 23-24, 2014.

WHEREAS, Wes Saunders-Pearce, Water Resource Coordinator, has been invited to speak at Augustana College, in Rock Island, Illinois, at an event for college staff and local city staff to learn about sustainability, to be held on October 23-24, 2014; and
WHEREAS, the City has been involved in a two-year pilot program called "CityLabs" which was a sustainability partnership with the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities; and
WHEREAS, Augustana College has offered to pay for all travel, lodging, and meal expenses for Wes Saunders-Pearce to attend and speak about the pilot program; and
WHEREAS, travel expenses for one night hotel stay costs $110, and air fare expenses for $327.20, for a total of $437.20 will be paid for directly by Augustana College; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the event by a Saint Paul employee will allow him to make new connections with others in the sustainability field and will highlight the work being done by the City of Saint Paul, both of which will benefit the City; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the payment of airfare, hotel, and meal expenses for Wes Saunders-Pearce to travel to Rock Island, Illinois, for the purpose of attending an event at Augustana College, and delivering a speech about the CityLabs partnership, and thanks Augustana College for its generous gift.
