Approving an amendment to the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Special Projects grant from the State of Minnesota which includes an indemnification clause.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant - Special Projects 2012 grant amendment by the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety which includes an indemnification clause; and
WHEREAS, the grant amendment awards an additional $90,000 with an additional $10,000 match requirement and extends the grant to March 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funds to enhance the knowledge base of the criminal justice system and positive alternatives to delinquency available to youth in the efforts to reduce the number of youth introduced into the criminal justice system and improve trust and rapport between police and youth; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant amendment and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Chief Thomas Smith to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota which includes an indemnification clause.
