Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a one year agreement with the Regents of the University of Minnesota, through the College of Veterinary Medicine, on behalf of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory for veterinary care services in the amount of up to $20,000 in 2012.
Body
WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is an AZA accredited institution with an animal collection of over 1,500 animals representing 157 species; and
WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine has offered clinical services and identified licensed and accredited faculty members to serve as the primary veterinarian for Como Zoo; and
WHEREAS, both parties wish to enter into an agreement to provide Como Zoo veterinarian care for the animals; and
WHEREAS, the animals will continue to receive the care they need to stay in line with industry practices and association standards; and
WHEREAS, the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory shall pay the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine up to $20,000 for services performed; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council authorizes the appropriate City officials to enter into a one year agreement with the Regents of the University of Minnesota through the College of Veterinary Medicine on behalf of the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory for veterinary services performed in the amount of up to $20,000 in 2012.
