Title
Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept a grant in the amount of $105,000 from the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization for stormwater and green infrastructure planning along the Central Corridor.
Body
WHEREAS, the construction of the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit line creates a unique opportunity to leverage substantial investment for the physical, economic, and social development of the communities along the Central Corridor; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul strives to be a leader in sustainable urban living; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has, in Resolution 11-936, accepted the sub-award of $370,000 for the purpose of stormwater and green infrastructure planning for the Central Corridor from the Metropolitan Council, who was awarded a Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency; and
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization has made an award of funds in the amount of $105,000 to the City of Saint Paul to supplement the existing funding for stormwater and green infrastructure planning for the Central Corridor; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul does hereby certify that $105,500 in funds are available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2012 budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul accepts the grant from the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization in the amount of $105,500 and approves the changes to the 2012 budget as described in Attachment A.
